| Until 1973, Edwin
& Sophie Salsburg,
along with sons Bill, Paul & Rick, operated a meat business
in the Pennsylvania Dutch farm country near Reading, PA.
After selling the business, the family brought its old world
secrets to South Florida & created Penn Dutch Food Center.
In 1975, the store opened
in Hollywood with 17 employees
in a 17,000 square feet facility. Expansions over the
years have increased the size of the Hollywood location to its current
40,000 square
feet with over 200 employees. In addition to the growth of
the original store, we've expanded & opened a 2nd location
in Margate. On March 18th, 2004, we had the grand opening of
our Margate facility which is 70,000 square feet with 250 team
members!
The 2nd
generation of family has passed the torch to the 3rd generation, Greg
Salsburg (President) & Kara Salsburg Boehly (Marketing Director) are two of Bill's four children. Jeremy Salsburg (Engineer) and
Micah Salsburg (Hollywood Floor Manager) are Rick's two children. They are following in their footsteps and growing the business
on great customer service & fresh products!
